Course Overview

An established and recognised course which sets down the basic knowledge and management practice required by all managers, supervisors and employees with a responsibility for health and safety. Providing a detailed insight and assessment of the fundamentals underlying Health and Safety within the Workplace.

The course consists of 2 written exams and a practical workplace inspection and written report.

By the end of this course, delegates will be able to:

  • Understand fully the principal fundamentals of occupational health and safety within the workplace.
  • Demonstrate a sound understanding to apply and develop Health and Safety arrangements.
  • Improve their knowledge and understanding of the legal requirements facing organisations and the practicalities of compliance.
  • Gain access to the current guidance including Approved Codes of Practice from the Health & Safety Executive.
  • Apply best practice techniques and management for effective day to day management of health and safety for your organisation.

Distance Learning method

Health and safety distance learning training

The course tutor will visit the candidate to carry out an induction and to introduce the course materials. The candidate will agree a study plan and visits will be arranged approximately every 3 weeks to check candidates progress. Candidates will be expected to submit course work via email at least every 2 weeks. Examinations are held 4 times a year i.e. March, June, September & December.

Candidates are expected to complete 16 modules together with assessed exercises at the end of each module in a period of approximately 6 months. A candidate should be prepared to commit about 4 – 6 hours per week i.e. around 100 hours of study to complete the course
